Mushawarat Delhi holds discussion on the budget

New Delhi: A discussion was held by the AIMMM Delhi unit on the Union budget on 3 March at the AIMMM headquarters, with special reference to the minorities.. It was addressed by Siraj Hussain, retired IAS and former VC of Jamia Hamdard' and attended by Mushawarat President Navaid Hamid, AIMMM Delhi unit President Abdul Rashid Agwan, Dr Waqar Anwar, Jawed Alam Khan and Manzoor Ali. The following is a gist of the discussion: 1. The government tried to present a balanced budget, but it heavily reduced amounts on social front. 2. Allocations for minorities have been slightly increased. 3. Budget of Madrasa Modernization Scheme has been reduced to one third. 4. In all, minorities including Muslims, may receive around Rs 4010 Cr: 3827 under Ministry of Minority  Affairs, 120 cr for Madrasas, apprx 20 cr for Urdu promotion and approx 40 cr as Haj subsidy.

5. Mushawarat will take up budget interventions for the next term in December 2016. 6. A document for wider information on the outcome of the budget and its monitoring will be prepared by Mushawarat.
