This book is a compilation of selected research papers presented in the 3rd International Nursi Studies conference organised by the Department of Islamic Studies, Aligarh Muslim University, in collaboration with Turkey’s the Istanbul Foundation for Science and Culture (IFSC) which was held on Feb 11-13, 2014 at AMU. The book opens with a note on the message and mission of Said Nursi by Prof. Faris Kaya, General Secretary of IFSC.

The book covers Nursi’s teachings, sermons and their implications for the society. Nursi’s perspectives on Tafsir have been, in particular, dealt in this book. However, various perspectives of his religious thought are the centre of discussion in this book. Not only this, one of the papers discusses and attempts to build a bridge between the thoughts of Iqbal and Nursi on restoration of Islamic faith and morality. Contemporary topics in the light of teachings of Said Nursi have also been presented such as Women Empowerment, Brotherhood and Unity in Islam, Religion and Politics, etc. The book is a must read for those interested in developing an insight into the teaching of Bediuzzaman Said Nursi, one of the teachers and thinkers responsible for the Islamic revival in modern Turkey.
