Maulana Tauqeer Raza Khan visits Darul Uloom Deoband


Deoband: In a most significant development towards Muslim unity, Maulana Tauqeer Raza Khan, the prominent Barelvi scholar, visited  Darul Uloolm Deoband on 7 May and talked with the scholars of the seminary supposed to be the bastion of the Deobandi sub-sect of Islam in the Subcontinent.

Maulana Tauqeer Raza Khan, the most important public face of the Barelvi sub-sect in India, is the the great grandson of the founder of the Barelwi sub sect Ala Hazrat Ahmed Raza Khan and heads the the socio-political organisation, Ittehad-e Millat Council.

Maulana  Raza was in  Deoband to meet the family of Shakir Ansari, the boy who was  arrested by the Special Cell Delhi Police a few days ago on charges of terrorism.

Maulana Tauqeer also took the opportunity to visit Darul Uloom Deoband and exchanged views on Milli issues with the rector and scholars of Deoband.

‘We should stick to our religious beliefs and get united to fight against the common enemy. This is the only way-out,’ said Maulana Tauqeer Raza while talking to Muslim Mirror news portal from Deoband.

‘When I was arrested in connection with communal clashes in 2010, many Deobandi scholars came to Bareilly to meet me’ recalled the Maulana.

At a time when govt is trying to create divisions among Muslims, Maulana Tauqeer Raza’s visit to Deoband seminary is being seen as a great move towards Muslims unity.
