Yoga RTI Journalist Pushp Sharma granted bail

New Delhi, 23 May, 2016: A sessions court here granted bail today to the senior investigative journalist Pushp Sharma who was arrested by Delhi police on 16 May for publishing a story in The Milli Gazette last March which claimed that the Ayush Ministry did not recruit any Muslim in Yoga trainer posts as per government policy. The Ministry claimed that the document used by the journalist was forged while the journalist has stood by his story.

The bail was granted by Judge Sunil Chaudhary of Saket District Court here. The bail formalities will be completed tomorrow and the journalist may come out of jail by late evening tomorrow.

The original case, however, will continue and may take years to decide as is normal in India’s slow-moving judicial system.
