UP BJP chief changes stand on Ayodhya

Lucknow:  UP BJP chief, Keshav Prasad Maurya, has changed his stand on Ayhodhya issue. Speaking with newsmen on 27 April, he said that constructing a grand temple at Ayodhya would be the best tribute to Ashok Singhal, the VHP leader who died recently. This is different from his earlier stand, when he took over as UP BJP chief, in which he said that “Ram temple would not be on our poll agenda in the assembly elections and the party’s poll issue would be development only.” But now he said that “Construction of Ram temple is the wish of every ‘Ram Bhakt’ and so is mine.” Maurya was very close to Ashok Singhal as he worked for the demolition of Babri Masjid and Ram Mandir movement.
