Communal flare-up in Shri-Rampur, Dist. Ahmadnagar

Shri-Rampur:  In village Shri-Rampur of Dist. Ahmadnagar, a tempo and motorbike met an accident opposite Nehru vegetable market. The motorbiker, who was a local Hindu Vahini member, tried to give the accident a communal colour and, calling his supporters, started stone-pelting the minority community areas, which injured several people. The miscreants damaged minority community shops in the vegetable market and after looting them set them on fire, causing lakhs of rupees of damage to the shop-owners. This occurred before the eyes of the police, but it preferred to remain silent spectators. The incident was reported to the Maharashtra Jamiat Ulama office by the district Ahmadnagar president, Maulana Irshadullah Makhdoomi. Jamiat Ulama Maharashtra (JUM) president, Maulana Muhammad Nadeem Siddiqui, condemning the attacks by the communal elements on the properties of Muslims and terrorising them, said that the miscreants wanted to spoil the situation and get political advantage out of the same. Eleven people were arrested in this incident. A large contingent of police was posted in the village to maintain law and order.
