After Maulana Tauqeer, Mahants to go to Deoband

New Delhi: In view of the growing activities of communal forces in the county and particularly, fearing the planned mischievous activities of these forces to spread communal virus before next year’s assembly elections in UP, some peace loving people and organisations have started a movement called ‘Paigham-e Aman : Kashi se Ka’ba tak’. Under this movement, after Maulana Tauqeer Raza’s visit to Deoband to promote understanding between Bareilvis and Deobandis, Maulana Arshad Madni, Jamiatul Ulama’s President had visited Varanasi to participate in the National Convention held under the movement : Paigham-e Aman : Kashi se Ka’ba tak’ sponsored by Sri Ram Leela Committee in which along with Maulana Madni, Sankat Mochan Mandir (kashi)’s Mahant Vishambhar Nath Mishra and Kashi Vishwanath Mandir’s Mahant Dr. Kulpati Tiwari and other religious leaders had participated and had jointly declared the  opening of a front against communalism. After the Convention Maulana Madni and Pundit Vishambhar Nath Mishra had a long talk in which the situations prevailing in UP and othr parts of India were discussed. Maulana Madni had also invited Kashi’s Mahant to visit Deoband which he had accepted.

Jamiatul Ulama, Banaras branch’s secretary, Istiqbal Qureshi, while confirming the above said that the date of Mahants i.e. heads of Sankat Mochan Madir and Kashi Vishwanath Temple has not yet been fixed because Maulana Arshad Madni is presently on foreign tour and after his coming back the date will be fixed. He said that religious heads of these temples as well as common people were very impressed with Maulana Madni’s views and their meetings were topics of great discussion among the people of Banaras. He said that after Banaras, the next meeting under this movement (Paigham-e Aman : Kashi se Ka’ba tak) is likely to be held at Sangam in Allahabad because there is a great demand for holding such a conference for the promotion of peace, understanding and harmony.  Regarding Ganga cleaning, he said that central government’s work on this project has not yet started hence Jamiatul Ulama has also promised that it will also work along with Hindu brethren on this project. As regards the proposed visit of mahants of Varanasi temples to Deoband, he said that Jamiat people as well as those of Darul Uloom Deoband are very happy to know that these people want to visit Deoband as their visit will be a historic one because so far no mahants and heads of Kashi temples have ever come to Deoband.
