Doctorate Degree to Hurriyat leader Gilani

Srinagar: Mirpur University of Science & Technology (MUST) in Pakistan’s part of Kashmir has conferred Honorary Doctorate Degree to J&K’s separatist leader, Syed Ali Shah Gilani, chairman of Hurriyat (G) Conference. Announcement to this effect was made by Sardar Ya’qoob Khan, President of PoK but through arrangements by this University or MUST this announcement was made at a two-day conference in Pakistan’s federal capital Islamabad. In this conference a speech by Gilani, recorded through video was also telecast in which he spoke in brief on the history of Kashmir dispute and also shed light on the serious social, human and mental trauma on the people of Kashmir because of non-settlement of Kashmir problem. In this speech Gilani demanded that a Scotland-type referendum be arranged in J&K and said that unless the people of Kashmir are given the opportunity of idependently deciding their future, neither is there any possibility of any durable solution of this problem and peace nor the on-going political uncertainty and the instability in the South Asian region is possible.
