NCPUL’s initiative in starting Urdu scrolls in Delhi

New Delhi: National Council for the Promotion of Urdu language (NCPUL), in order to further promote Urdu has decided, in cooperation with the news agency, United News of India (UNI) to start Urdu scrolls at different places in Delhi under which news, notices and items and events of information will be displayed at cross roads and common meeting places for the general information of the people. NCPUL’s Director, Prof. Irtiza Kareem, while presenting the report card of the Council of past one year at a press conference, said that the Council plans to teach Urdu to people through mobile vans. He further said that some more decisions have been taken for the promotion of Urdu which, after approval in the Executive Board’s meeting will be announced for the information of the general public. He further said that a decision has also been taken to prepare an encyclopaedia of journalism, work on which has already started. In addition to this, a directory of all Urdu newspapers along with the photos of newspapers will be prepared and published. In this press conference he also presented a literary calendar with photos which has been published for the first time by NCPUL. He said that the union HRD minister Mrs. Smriti Irani praised this calendar and has ordered that this calendar should be sent to the departments of Urdu of all universities.
