UP Urdu Academy invites applications for scholarships

Lucknow: UP Urdu Academy has invited applications from boy and girl students who have opted for Urdu as a subject, whether compulsory or optional, for scholarships for the year 2016-17. This scholarship is given on special and merit basis for the promotion and popularisation of Urdu language and this scholarship will not affect any other scholarships already being received or to be received by students. These scholarships will be given only to those regular students (boy and girl) who are acquiring education in government-recognised Madrasas, schools, colleges or universities in classes six (VI) to MA and who have taken Urdu as a compulsory or optional subject. Also, the applications of only those boy and girl students will be considered for scholarships who have passed their previous annual examination with at least 60% marks in Urdu and aggregate 55% marks. These scholarships will be given to those students also, though of a fixed number, whose mother tongue is not Urdu but who are reading Urdu as an optional or compulsory subject in any approved or recognised educational institution of UP. Rules and regulations or conditions for such students also will be the same as for other students mentioned above. Thoese boy and girl students who are physically handicapped and are reading Urdu will also be given scholarships, though of a limited number.

New application forms can be obtained free from the Secretary, UP Urdu Academy, Vibhuti Khand, Gomti Nagar, Lucknow by sending a stamped envelope, with names and addresses written clearly or by hand (personally). These new application forms can also be downloaded from Urdu Academy’s website

This scholarship is specially for Urdu education and as stated above, it will not affect any other scholarship. It is essential that scholarship application forms must be confirmed (counter signed) by the heads (principals etc) of the concerned schools, colleges, universities and also by the Urdu teachers of concerned schools, colleges etc. Boy and girl students must give their Bank Account number, in their application forms along with IFSC Code and Bank’s name and branch.

Old application forms will not be accepted. Last date for submission of scholarship application forms is 31 August 2016. Application forms received after this date will not be considered.
