CHAUDHARY MAHBOOB ALI QAISAR, MP and noted social and political leader has been elected Chairman of the Haj Committee of India. Some other elected office bearers of the Haj Committee of India are TMC’s Lok Sabha MP Sultan Ahmad and Goa Haj Committee’s Chairman, Sheikh Jaina as Vice Chairman. The election of Haj Committee of India’s Chairman was through ballot papers in which Chaudhary Mahboob Ali Qaisar got 10 votes and his rival Haji Inayet Husain Qureshi got 6 votes. Chaudhary Mahboob Ali Qaisar is a LJP (Lok Janshakti Party) MP and Haji Inayet Husain Qureshi, a BJP leader, is chairman of Madhya Pradesh Haj Committee.
Prof. ZUBER AHMAD of JN Medical College of AMU’s Department of TB and respiratory diseases has been re-appointed Vice Chairman of the State Task Force for two years to implement and enforce the Revised National TB Control Programme by medical colleges of the country. As Vice Chairman of this Task Force, Prof. Zuber Ahmad will oversee and supervise the TB control programme work being done by all government and private medical colleges of western UP including AMU’s JN Medical College and Agra’s S. N. Medical College. His appointment as Vice Chairman of this Task Force for the second time is because of the laudable and efficient work done by him during his first term in this field.
ZUBAIDA BAI, an Indian social worker and founder of an institution in India which provides means of health and earning livelihood to poor women from all over the world has been nominated by United Nations Secretary General Ban ki Moon the ‘Champions and Pioneers’ under United Nations Global Compact, world’s biggest corporate stability council She has been included among the ten ‘2016 Global Compact S. D. G. Pioneers’. This (UN Global Compact) helps the companies which work on the basis of ten principles for promotion of human rights, dignity of labour, protection of environment and opposing and putting and end to corruption.
Fifteen-year old, Srinagar-born NADIA NIGHAT has emerged as the first woman soccer i.e. football coach and referee of Kashmir and by doing so, has challenged the gender stereotypes in the Kashmir Valley. She is a hard task master as a coach / trainer. She started playing football at the age of 10 and used to practice in a local college ground, the only girl among 50 boys. Last year the All India Football Associationyers adjudged her as the best referee for officiating in boys tournament,. Her jersey bears the print JJ7. JJ is short for Jiya Jaan, the name by which she is called at home.
Prof. RAHAT ABRAR, who worked for 30 years in Public Relations Department has been appointed Director of AMU Urdu Academy, Aligarh. He has written many books in Urdu Hindi and English and his many articles in these three languages, particularly in English are published in Indian and foreign journals and magazines. However, his appointment as Director of AMU’s Urdu Academy is not free from controversies and some persons have criticised his appointment as favouritism by the Governing Council, preparations for which were going on for quite some time.
MAULANA ARIF QASMI, Imam and preacher of Nursery Masjid, Lok Nayek Bhawan has been appointed Organising General Secretary of All India Imam’s Association by the Governing Body of All India Imam’s Associaiton.
(Ms) MEHR FATEMA of Jharkhand has topped in Jamia Millia Islamia’s M. Phil Entrance Examination and has secured first position. She appeared for this entrance examination from general quota. She has also won many awards for her excellent performance in education.
MASROOR SOGHRA has been conferred PhD Degree by Jawaharlal Nehru Univeristy for her thesis on ‘Maqbool-e Aam tradition of fiction aur Wajidah Tabassum’ which she completed under the supervision of Prof. Khwaja Muhammad Ikramuddin.
