Manipur mothers who produced upto 15 children honoured

Imphal: More than a year after HIndutva leaders asked Hindus to produce 10 children in order to combat and defeat demographic invasion (by Muslims), a Manipuri civil society organisation Iramdam Kanba Apunba Lup (IKAL) awarded cash and citation to 13 women for having upto 15 children, for giving birth to large number of children and for bringing them up well by imparting good education and parental care. A government school headmaster was also honoured for taking good care of the indigenous population of Manipur. The top two outstanding women, a 44-year old mother of 15 children and the other, a 54-year old mother of 11 children won first and second prize respectively. Two other women, mothers of 9 children each, won the third prize separately. President of IKAL (Mr.) Luwangleima said that this is our third attempt at reviving the degrading public institutions in the interest of indigenous population. Trinamool Congress (TNC) MLA, Oinam Lukhoi Sigh who attended the prize / award-giving function said that the merit of adopting family planning needs to be stopped because the population of Manipuri community is shrinking.
