Fake diamond

The AMU PRO, Dr. Rahat Abrar,  published the following “Clarification” on 22 July: “The news item issued by Dr. Jasim Mohammad, which appeared on various AMU networks online, has purportedly claimed that the Pro-Vice Chancellor of Aligarh Muslim University, Brig. S. Ahmad Ali has referred to Dr. Jasim Mohammad as a ‘Precious Diamond” of this institution. The AMU has clarified that “it is absolutely false, mischievous and inclined towards creating misleading reporting to various social networks. The fact is that Brig. S. Ahmad Ali, while congratulating Dr. Jasim Mohammad for receiving Raisuddin Rais Memorial Award, thanked him for extending support to University’s campaign for restoration of Minority Character of AMU. The Pro-Vice Chancellor’s views did not include any words like “precious diamond” or words having such meaning.”
MG comment: Below is Jasim Mohammad (2nd from right) posing with Mahesh Bhat and others while campaigning for Congress in Rampur and Barielly during the parliamentary elections in April 2014 (photo released by Jasim on 14 April. 2014). Guess who paid for the helicopter? At the time, his pocket organisation, Millat Bedari Muhim Committee, had issued an open appeal to the Muslim voters to vote for the Congress and “ensure defeat of communal forces”. He had asked Mukhtar Ansari “to declare support to Congress candidate Ajai Rai to ensure defeat of Narendra Modi”. Jasim had also announced his intention to file PIL in the Supreme Court “against Paid Modi Coverage by Media” (Zafarul-Islam Khan).
