Disruptive activities in old mazar

Puranpur: Some mischievous elements indulged in subversive activities on 30 June night in an old mazar situated in a rice mill which created a wave of anger in local Muslims. When police was informed about it, a police team arrested two of the four accused persons involved in this fight etc but even after the arrest, communal tension prevailed in the town. A large number of Muslims led by Hafiz Noor Ahmad Raza, secretary of ‘Sunni Ulama Council met the SDM, Gayanendra Kumar and in a letter submitted to him demanded the arrest of the remaining guilty persons who assured them of taking necessary action against all the accused persons. According to available news, holding religious ceremonies on the mazar by local Muslims is a tradition which goes on almost all the year round and the owners of the rice mill or its employees never objected to these ceremonies or assembly of devotees earlier, but on that day the owners of the rice mill and their men misbehaved with the devotees and not only prevented them from offering fateha but also threw away the sheet placed on the mazar and also tried to damage it. On complaint by local Muslims police arrested the owner of the rice mill, Ramesh Pandey and his brother on the spot and raided some other places to catch hold of the culprits but without success. Hafiz Noor Ahmad in his letter to SDM demanded that elements who indulge in spreading communal hatred and triggering communal riots to derive political advantage before 2017 elections in UP should in no case be spared.
