Wrestler Husain Mulla wins medal in Yakutia

Recently he defeated the Mongolian wrestler and won the bronze medal for his country in an international wrestling event in Yakutia, Russian Federation. Son of a farmer from Sultanpur village of Hukkeri taluka, he is a student of class X in Pandit Nehru Pu College at Shahpur, Belgaum. Seeing his interest in wrestling, he was admitted into the sports club Belgaum where he lives in the sports hostel. His coaches are Altaf Mulla, Nagaraj Patel and Hanumant Patil. While in class VI, Husain won silver medal as the second prize in the state-level competition. He kept winning medals in state and national level competitions.

He was selected to go to Yakutia in Russia for an international wrestling event. He did not have money to travel to Yakutia. Here former minister Satish Jarkeholi, Belgaum MLA Firoz Seth and others came forward to help him but still he had to take a loan of one lakh rupees. (Iqbal Ahmad Jakati - iqbaljakati@gmail.com)
