Hindu family observing fasts for 20 years

Shivpur (MP): A Hindu family in this district had pledged that if blessed with a son they would observe Ramadan fast, every year. The couple had been leading married life for 13 years but during this long period it could not get any issue. Disappointed from all sides even after consulting many doctors, hakeems etc and undergoing different kinds of treatment and spiritual rituals, seeing Muslims observing fasts in the month of Ramadan, decided that if by observing Ramadan fasts they are blessed with a son, they will observe Ramadan fasts every year. Hence after observing Ramadan fast, luckily or otherwise they were blessed with a son. Ever since that time about 20 years ago, the couple has been observing not only Ramadan fasts regularly every year but is also offering 5 times Namaaz daily. This is the story of one Sewa Lal Khatik who is employed as an accountant by a businessman. According to Khatik, same year he was blessed with a son. Now the parents have a son Rahul and a daughter Lakshmi. In addition to fasts and 5 times daily Namaaz in the whole month of Ramadan they also offer special Namaz Taravih. Both children also observe Ramadan fasts for the past many years. However, along with fasts and Namaz in the month of Ramadan, the traditional worship of Hindu gods and goddesses is also performed regularly in the house and by them all the year round. They also celebrate Eid with joy and gaiety.
