Okhla social worker providing free education to poor children

New Delhi: (Ms) Shabina Khan, a social worker of Okhla Jamia Nagar who has been working voluntarily for many years for improving the lot of poor people and children has recently adopted 70 poor children living with their parents in jhuggis in Noor Nagar locality of Jamia Nagar. She is not alone in this humanitarian work but there are about a hundred other people also who are coopeating with her. She is taking full care of their education and other needs and for educating them help of some teachers has also been obtained. She said while talking to media persons that since no body takes care of poor people, particularly children living in these jhuggis, our team has selected the people of these and some other areas for our services and that we started awareness programmes in many jhuggi habitations in these areas which include Sarita Vihar, Jasola, Noor Nagar, Okhla Vihar etc about governemnt’s different welfare schemes for such people. She said that recently on the occasion of Eid we distributed goods and gifts among them and participated with them in Eid functions. She said that we will continue these services and will extend our services to other areas also. She however did not say what are the sources of her income to meet the expenses of these services.
