Kanpur: Shamshad Begum (40), a widow and mother of teen-age daughter from UP’s Fatehpur district has volunteered to donate one of her kidneys to Aarti (38) of Pune, both of whose kidneys are badly damaged and who has been battling for her life for more than a year. Both Shamshad, the donor and Aarti, the recipient have undergone all the necessary medical tests. The donor (Shamshad) has submitted all the needed documents and is now waiting for state government's go-ahead for the transplant. The recipient, Aarti is a friend of Shamshad’s sister Junaida Khatoon who lives in Pune. When Shamshad had gone to Pune to meet her sister, she came to know about her sister’s friend Aarti who was on dialysis. She (Shamshad) said that she was shocked by the pain of her sister’s friend who was facing death. She underwent blood group test which luckily matched with Aarti’s group. Shamshad’s father Zakir Khan said that both the families have no objection to the transplant.
