Dalit, Muslim, Christian unity inevitable: Maulana Arshad

New Delhi: Maulana Arshad Madni, President of Jamiatul Ulama-e Hind (JUH) said here in a statement on 2 August that in view of the conditions prevailing these days in the country and the way in which communal forces are preaching and spreading hatred and violence, it has become inevitable that Dalits, Muslims, Christians and weaker sections of society come together on one platform. He said that Jamiatul Ulama is strongly against all kinds of cruelty, oppression, injustice, extremism and social inequality irrespective of and from any religion or community and against any community, class or religion, adding tht Jamiatul Ulama’s participation in the recent protest rally held in Ahmedabad (against the cruelties meted out to dalits who were skinning a dead cow) is its clear and latest proof. He said that in view of the enormous increase in cases of violence and targeting of minorities particularly Muslims, dalits and backward and weaker sections because of religious extremism, Jamiatul Ulama-e Hind has decided to hold a joint dalit-Muslim rally in Noida’s Ram Lila ground in the month of October in which not only protests against the on-going atrocities against minorities, particularly Muslims, Christians, dalits and weaker sections will be held but a joint strategy against this for future will also be prepared.

He said that JUH not only raises its voice of protest against the oppressed sections irrespective of religion and community but also provides legal assistance to them in many cases, adding that recently when the matter of atrocities on dalits in Gujrat by extremist Hindu organisations had come out in the open, Jamiatul Ulama had taken part in the rally and protest held in their favour and support. He further said that JUH will Insha Allah never allow any attempt to harm the country’s democracy, secularism and Ganga-Jamuni civilisation to succeed. He said that the serious situation that is prevailing today was never before in the country because the communal organistion RSS and its outfits have now come out in the open to put into practice its agenda of changing secular and democratic India into Hindu Rashtra and these organisations enjoy central government’s full backing and support. Today whereas Muslims are being targeted and harassed by sometimes raising slogans like religious conversion, cow slaughter, love jihad, Christians and dalits also are being targeted on different pretexts and excuses. The objective of all these activities is to discourage, demoralise and to create a sense of inferiority complex in minorities and dalits so that their unholy plans may continue and the country may become the victim of unrest and chaos. Under such circumstances it has now become necessary that all minorities particularly Muslims, Christians dalits and weaker sections of society become united against communal and fascist forces so that their conspiracies against democracy, secularism and India’s composite culture could be foiled.
