5 Muslim out of 100 govt school teachers selected for awards

New Delhi: Municipal Corporation of Delhi has selected 100 teachers of its schools which include principals, assistant teachers, nursery teachers etc for being honoured with awards on Teachers Day on 5 September for their hard and sincere teaching job and good results. Only 5 of these are Muslims. According to the Department of Education complete transparency has been adopted in selection of these teachers for awards. Among these 100 are 20 principals, 72 assistant teachers, 5 nursery teachers, one physical training teacher, one music teacher and one art teacher. The 5 Muslim teachers are Principal NAAZIRA BEGUM of Chaunsath Khamba Road School, RUKHSANA BEGUM of Gali Qasim Jaan Boys School, NAAZIMA PARVEEN, lady teacher of Beri Wala Bagh School which comes under Sadar Pahar Ganj Zone, MUHAMMAD KHURSHID NASIR of a school in Zakir Nagar under Central Zone and RUKHSANA KHATOON of Okhla Urdu School. In addition to these, KHAMSA JABEEN NAQVI of Ramesh Park School is under Shahdra South Zone. All the selected teachers were given Rs 7000 in cash each, a certificate and National Emblem. Chairman of MCD’s Education Committee Dr Mahindra Pal said that at present there are about 9, 70, 000 students in MCD’s schools.
