Dr. SYED EHTASHAM HASNAIN, noted scientist and former Vice Chancellor of Hyderabad University and presently a visiting professor in IIT, Delhi’s Kusuma School of Biological Science has been appointed new Vice Chancellor of Jamia Hamdard University, Delhi for 5 years or his retirement whichever is earlier.
JAVED ASHRAF, an IFS officer of 1991 batch and presently working as joint secretary in external affairs ministry, has been appointed India’s ambassador to Singapore. Javed Ashraf had served as a key official in former PM Manmohan Singh’s and present PM Narendra Modi’s office and had held important positions in Germany, Nepal and USA.
A. P. SIDDIQI, presently Additional Director General of Police has been appointed Registrar of Jamia Millia Islamia University. He is the first IPS officer of Himachal Pradesh cadre of 1999 batch to hold this post. Himachal Pradesh government has given its approval for Siddiqi’s appointment to this post. A formal order from union home ministry is expected soon.
Seven-year-oldMUHAMMAD HAMZA SHAHZAD of Pakistani prodigy origin and living with his parents in Birmingham (UK) has become the world’s youngest computer programmer, which is an unprecented record. This is not the first time when this child prodigy has set up a world record, he had become world’s first Microsoft Officer Professional (MOP) last year (2015) at the age of 6 years. At this very young age of 7 now he can explain many complicated points and problems of computer better than many experienced programmers. According to a Microsoft spokesperson, in an exam where candidates needed 700 points to get the coveted certificate, Hamza had scored 757 points, adding that he is now proficient in Software Development Fundamentals. He says that the wants to be Bill Gates. He has been trained by his father Asim, an officer in an American IT firm.
FIROZ AHMAD ANSARI, advocate has been elected new President of All India Momin Conference at the annual session of the Conference held in New Delhi on 1 October. The conference was attended, in addition to delegates from all over the country, by Congres leaders Ghulam Nabi Azd and M. Afzal also. It may be stated in this connection that All India Momin Conference was set up in 1906.
Messrs MUHAMMAD NASIR, a research scholar in AMU’s Department of Sunni Theology; MOHSIN ATEEQ KHAN, research scholar of Rai Bareily; JAVED IQBAL of J&K and Mrs. IMAMA IQBAL, research scholars of AMU’s Department of History have been awarded PhD Degrees by Aligarh Muslim University; Jamia Millia Islamia University, Delhi; University of Jammu and AMU respectively. The topics of their theses were: Muhammad Nasir: Islam aur Hindustani Mazahib (Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, Sikhism) mein Aman wa jung ki Ta’limaat ka Taqabli Mutala’ (comparative study); Mohsin Ateeq Khan: Falasteeni adab muqadma mein Ghassaan-e Kan’aanik hissa; Javed Iqbal: importance of reportage in Urdu literature) and Ms. Imama Iqbal: Sufism (Life and Time of Mullah Shah Qadiri).
AAFREEN BEGUM, a student of district Nizamabad’s Telangana University, by securing highest marks in Telugu language and literature has become the topper in post graduation in the whole University. In previous years also she secured excellent marks in Telugu and won many awards.
UP governemnt has appointed film actor NAWAZUDDIN SIDDIQI as its brand ambassador for Samajwadi Kisan Bima Yojna. UP chief minister Akhilesh Yadav while making this announcement at his residence in Lucknow said that with Nawazuddin lending his name to this scheme, the government hopes to be able to reach out to larger number of people and provide insurance cover to farmers.
MUZAFFAR HUSAIN, Vice Chairman of NCPUL, an organisation working under union HRD ministry for the promotion of Urdu has resigned from his post because of serious differences with NCPUL’s Director Prof. Irtiza Kareem. He has also informed Bhaiyya Joshi, who is considered No. 2 in RSS hierarchy about his resignation, on whose advice he had joined NCPUL. According to reports, he was also not satisfied with the working of NCPUL and because of mental tension and pressure he was feeling unwell.
