W. Bengal riots: Result of a planned conspiracy

Kolkata:  Whereas the BJP is holding Muslims responsible for the communal riots of Haji Nagar, Marwarikal, Naya Bazar and Billore Para in North 24-Parganas district, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) government of Mamata Banerji is not prepared to term these riots as ‘communal’. On the other hand, the sufferers of the riots among both the Muslims and Hindus claim that these riots were the result of a planned conspiracy, hatched by the saffron organisations like RSS, VHP and BJP. They also hold the ruling party councillors and MLAs responsible for the riots. The state BJP on its part, while sending a report to the Central government, has claimed the riots were the result of the part played by the Muslims from outside the state. The party said blocking of the path of the procession carrying the idols of Durga for immersion led to the riots. The imam of Tipu Sultan Shahi Mosque, Maulana Syed Noorur-Rahman Barkati, who has close relations with the ruling party of the state and who takes part in the rallies and meetings of the TMC, told newsmen on 22 October that he has complained to the Trinamool Congress leader, Mukul Rai, that complaints are being received about his son and MLA, Subhranshu Rai, that he had helped the rioters.
