I am a lover of Milli Gazette and congratulate you that inspite of hostile circumstances, you have continued to light the lamp of Milli Gazette, which is essential for the millat. I think this is the only English magazine which acquaints the millat of the problems and challenges faced by it. It is also the only source which conveys the voice of the millat to the intellectuals of the country. But, alas! you give us, from time to time the unfortunate news of the extinguishing of this twinkling lamp. Sometimes it is the financial crisis and at other, it is the unavailability of an editor, and at some other time, the lame excuse of some less important nature. Which engagement could be more important than publishing the Milli Gazette, which is a pressing need of the time. When you mentioned financial crisis in the past, millat open-heartedly cooperated with you, although you could not fully utilise its cooperation. I know one acquaintance of mine who had offered an amount of Rs. one lakh, but you have not yet accepted that offer.

I am Omar Khan, a resident of Aurangabad, Maharashtra. I am currently in 3rd year MBBS from GMC Aurangabad. I am a regular reader and follower of MG, both online and offline and also other publications that deal with the interest of Muslims. Recently I had read the emotions filled letter of Dr. Zafarul Islam Khan in the previous edition of MG titled regarding the closing of MG print edition .This of course was sad to read, because MG is the only source of authentic Muslim news in the country and to see it close is indeed sad. I wanted to ask if I could be of any help to you in your work, since I have a considerable command of over the English language .(I am not looking for any paid job though) Although I am not talented in this field and not much able, I just wanted to offer help to help in this cause. My another sincere advice to MG was that instead of shutting down the print edition, it could be converted into a monthly paper till conditions get better. Verily Allah helps those who help in His Cause (Qur’an 22:40)

Ummah at the receiving end

Islam teaches us unity, integration, discipline, sincerity, punctuality, devotion, humbleness, politeness, sacrifice, humanity, morality, obedience, love, strong brotherhood. These unmatched qualitative teachings helped Islam reach in a short span of time every nook and corner of the old world. However, with the passage of time all these traits were diluted and the Ummah suffered immensely. Western nations and enemies of Islam very cleverly grabbed all the established qualities of the Muslim way of life whereas the Ummah unhesitatingly welcomed all rot from them by surrendering our ethics, etiquette, manners and all goodness. See the condition of the Islamic countries, specially those founded in the name of Islam. They are foolishly aping the western life. Islamic thinkers are hanged mercilessly by implicating them in false crimes. Christian countries adopted unity and they support each other whereas the Muslim countries are at loggerheads with each other over minor issues. In short, the western nations have succeeded to cage the Ummah as per their wishes. Time calls us to be sensible and act to regain our glorious, pious and holy past under Islamic colour; otherwise the enemies of Islam will succeed in turning the Ummah into a third grade soulless international community.

Controversy over Triple Talaq

Muslim Personal Law (MPL) is a very small part of Islamic Law (Shariah) recognized and enforced in India for dealing with different problems related to personal life of Muslims in India. It permits a Muslim husband to pronounce ‘’triple talaq’’ in a breath so as to divorce his disobedient wife in a sudden decision for releasing her from the wedlock which is opposed by a large section of Muslims in India resulting in an uproar and controversy over the validity of triple talaq in Islam. Even many Muslim women have already approached the Apex Court seeking abolition of triple talaq as there is no room of triple talaq in Islam according to them. Looking at the opposition of many Muslims to triple talaq, the BJP-led Government at Centre seeks to strike down the MPL in force in India for resolving the problems related to personal life of Indian Muslims in one hand and to impose and enforce the Uniform Civil Code for all sections of citizens in India for resolving the problems related to their personal life on the other. But Muslims feel that there is the necessity and benefit behind the existence of each Personal Law recognized in India for each community for maintaining the religious and cultural identity and dignity of each of them. Let all kinds of flowers bloom in the garden.  The basic source of Islamic law is the Qur’an (the word of Allah), the Sunnah (the tradition of prophet) and the Ijmah(the consensus of Sahabas) used and applied for the solution to the problems being faced by Muslim Ummah. The teaching of Sunnah and Ijmah is regarded next to the teaching of the Qur’an. If the teaching of Sunnah, Ijmah or any Islamic law contradicts and goes contrary to the teaching of the Qur’an, the latter( the Qur’an) being the word of Allah must prevail over them and be acceptable for every Muslim. But if the Qur’an remains silence on a problem, it should be resolved in gradual manner in accordance with the decision as given for the same in Sunnah, Ijmah and other Islamic law. In short, under no circumstances the teaching or decision of Sunnah, Ijmah and any Islamic law or book can be held superior to the teaching or decision of the Qur’an because it is the word of Allah. Islam teaches that if Muslims are confronted with a problem, it should be left to the decision as given for it in the Qur’an, Sunnah and Ijmah for its solution in gradual manner. And it is really a neutral and wise decision for those who believe in Allah and His prophet and fear the accountability for their thought and action on the Day of Judgement. The Qur’an announces :’’O ye who believe! If ye have a dispute concerning any matter, refer it to Allah and His prophet (for its solution), if ye are (really) believers in Allah and the Last Day. That is the best and most suitable for final determination ‘’ (4:59).This is the Book (the Qur’an) revealed as blessing; so follow it that ye may receive mercy’’(6:155). Moreover during his last sermon (Khutba) prophet Muhammad (PBUH)said: ‘’O people! Verily I have left among you the Book of Allah (Al-Qur’an). If you hold it fast, you will never go astray’’. According to the above two Qur’anic verses and the prophet’s saying, we are at first obligated to resolve a problem like talaq or anything as per the decision or rule given for it in the Qur’an; and if the Qur’an remains silence on it, we should follow the decision or rule given for the same in other sources of Islamic law so as to resolve the same problem. Now the questions arise: Has the Qur’an given any decision, rule or process to resolve the problem like talaq? If so, how do you dare to divorce your wife overlooking the decision, rule and process as given in the Qur’an? Overlooking the decision, rule or process of the Qur’an, if someone dares to settle a problem like talaq or anything accepting the teaching of other of Islamic laws, it would mean disrespecting the Qur’an the word of Allah leading his/her to kufr (disbelief). When a marriage is solemnized according to the teaching based not on the Qur’an, the marriage is invalid in Islam. Similarly when the talaq is given or pronounced according to the teaching based not on the Qur’an, it will also be invalid in Islam. Hence it is the religious duty of our ulema to highlight and explain the rule and system of talaq(divorce) as mentioned in the Qur’an before Muslims so that they could divorce their disobedient wives, if they desire so, according to the teaching of the Qur’an . If the ulema do so, Muslims would be aware of the real process of talaq as prescribed in Islam and there would be no controversy over talaq among Muslims. It is expedient to note here that the basic reason behind the feud and infighting prevailing among Muslims is that a large section of them is resorted to some sub-standard Islamic books available in market instead of the Qur’an, Sunnah and Ijmah for settling the problems being faced by them resulting in the probable division among themselves which is pleasing the enemy of Islam. It is an ominous sign for Muslims in world. We must keep in mind the old saying ‘’United we stand, divided we fall’’. Unity begets strength; and the strength finds respect from the strength. Inviting the Muslims to live in unity the Qur’an states:’’ O believer! And hold fast, all of you together the cable of Allah (the divine law) and do not separate’’(3:103). Again the prophet said:’’ O people! Every Muslim is the brother of another Muslim and all the Muslims form a single brotherhood’’.

Thank God, the Modi govt. has united all the sects of Indian Muslims by instigating the matter of triple talaaq and uniform civil code by filing an affidavit in the Supreme Court on October 7, which will be argued and followed by All India Muslim Personal law Board and other Muslim organizations. Now it was the time to discuss and debate only on the misuse of triple talaaq by Indian Muslims in one sitting and formulate an action plan to be taken against them rather than interfering and talking about the existence of triple talaaq in Muslim Personal Law.

MG: We are sorry for the plight of the minorities in Bangladesh, Pakistan and other neighbouring countries. Our focus from the very beginning has been on the scene in India and we do not have any reliable correspondent in the neighbouring countries. Space constraint too is a problem (Editor).

Surprised?

I didn’t know you’re such a drop-dead translator too. You’ve translated Zauqi’s article beautifully.

NDTV under emergency: is it beginning of the end of indian democracy?

Modi while talking to Reuters as CM of Gujarat in 1913 told them that he was a ‘Hindu nationalist’ and groomed for politics by Guru Golwalkar who is often described as Guru of Hate. This Guru while delivering a speech before the 1350 top level cadres of the RSS in 1940 declared: “RSS inspired by one flag, one leader and one ideology is lighting the flame of Hindutva in each and every corner of this great land”. If this is what Modi has learnt, as PM he has to follow his Guru. With apologies to Meer Taqi Meer: Ibtedai Hindutva Raj Hae Rota Hae Kiya/Aage Aage Dekhiye Hota Hae Kiya.

To prevent NDTV from functioning for a day is to impose a fine on it -- without a trial and without a conviction. If NDTV did in fact break any law, it should have been charged under that law. Presumably the sarkar knew that it had no case.

MG: This character is an aberration. Hindus in general are educated and cultured. However, there is a small minority which is uncouth and speaks such abhorrent language. Among Muslims too you may find a minuscule minority of this kind but this is not the trait of this great civilisation (Editor).

“Milli leadership”

I beg to invite your kind attention to an article mentioned in the subject vide issue of MG 1-15 Nov. 2016. It would have been better if you had disclosed the name of that gentleman who held press conference to condemn the Uri attack and refused to sign the statement on the grounds best known to him. I request you to expose such persons in the larger interest of Muslims and our beloved nation.

Killings in Bhopal: This is a sure way to manufacture terrorists

That is what the American security did by the torture programme which involved sexual and religious humiliation. Among other things, prisoners would be stripped naked, leashed like dogs, ridden like donkeys, forced to pray to Jesus throwing pages of the Qur’an into the toilet bowls, forced to wear women’s knickers over their faces, urinated on, forced to eat from the toilet, prisoners being raped and sexually degraded by service women. The purpose of this hell was to utterly insult and humiliate Muslim principles; the better to break down a prisoner’s sense of self Later, many of the accused their bodies broken, their souls desolate, were determined to be innocent and released back into the population, to tell their stories of hell at the hands of the “evil police “ To make matters worse, pictures emerged of some such atrocities, at Abu Ghraib. We all know the ones - and we should note that there were many others we didn’t see, as the White House considered them too shocking to ever release. For would be terrorists the Abu Ghraib images were a gift, not only because they caused shock and resentment, but also because they appeared to confirm the prophesies of security oppression and sexual immorality. Hope the relatives of Indian victims will pray hard and hold fast to patience leaving the judgment to Allah Subahanahu Wa Tala in the Dunia or Akhirah as He Wills

Life in Kashmir

Miscreants this evening at around 7:25pm attacked my vehicle with stones in Srigufwara near Al-Aman Public School. I was returning to home from SKIMS Soura with my father who is suffering from Cancer

(CA-Stomach). Window panes of the vehicle got damaged but fortunately had a narrow escape. It is ironic, these incidents are reported from every hook and corner of the valley but government has failed to protect its citizens. These cowards should be exposed who want lawlessness to prevail.

Problems of Muslim youth

Muslim youth lacking behind in careers in private as well as Govt. jobs for one or another reasons of what they are facing internal social problems and never try to come out of the gloomy situation. When ever a good job resume in News papers published, they fail to apply with in a limited time with one or another excuse of any incident in society. Marriage, Death, relative illness etc. Some NGOs are conducting career oriented classes but the same problem faced by them in attending and the ultimately result would be negative and frustration. Their life and friend circle confined to their locality only and never try to mix with students of other society . The sharing attitude of thoughts and some creative ideas are too weak The standard of schools in our society is also not to that extant and it creates a inferiority complex while competing with other candidates in group discussion and interviews Now it is high time for us to open good schools and emphasize more vigerously on good education and careers I wish society will realize the importance of Education and Careers of Muslim youths and for Poor students some ZAKAT fund may be kept reserve for interview fees and expenses

Secret of governance

“Aa bataa-oo-n tujhko ramz-e aayat-e ‘Innal Mulook’ Saltanat aqwaam-e ghaalib kee hei eik jadoo-garee’ ‘Dr. Allama Iqbal’ (Come on ! I must tell you the secret of governance, It is nothing but the magic of the ruling communities) Before the crucial Assembly elections, instead of thinking over the political agenda, the whole Muslim community has been brought, and it has foolishly come into the trap of ‘Uniform Civil Code and ‘Triple talaq’. It has proved a godsend opportunity to political brokers of different varieties and appearances, who are exploiting the sentiments of the community, but silently engaged in bargains with different political parties, and soon will be seen at their electoral platforms, seeking votes in the name of ‘secularism’ defending Islam and ‘Shariyat’ Signature campaigns are in full swing, aur bas eik hanggaamaa machaa huaa hei. It appears as if ‘ bas ‘Hazrat Israa-feel ‘ Qiyaamat kaa soor phoonkn-e hee wal-e hein’ Please do not disturb the community as it is busy with defending Shariyat and Islam’

Muslims punching bags?

Why are Indian Muslims a punching bag? Kaleem Khwaja sahab’s article of 16-30 September 2016, MG. This article by Khwaja sahab should be read and remembered by all Indian Muslims leaders for their own self-examination.. His most important points are 1. Muslim leaders are substandard, totally unthinking and impotent. 2. They are not able to emulate Dalits and take the support of many secular Hindu intellectuals and leaders. 3. They only crave for an MLA or MP gift from political parties and then betray the Muslim constituencies who voted for them. 4. they are scared of the power structure of BJP/RSS and are in a mindset of ‘’helplessness’’. 5. They are heedless of the long term agenda of these parties. His advice “Let some new Muslim leaders emerge and unite the infighting factions among themselves and link up with secular Hindus and Dalits. Not only at the time of election but in the social situations and struggles for justice.” But that is a million dollar question!

Christ’s Burial Place?

I am writing this letter so as to warn the Muslims of the latest circulated news-item appeared in some news papers that the Christ’s burial place has been discovered near a church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem by a group of scientists. Fredrick Hiebert, one of the group said “we will finally be able to see the original rock surface on which the body of Christ was laid.’’ Islam does not believe in the death of Christ nor in his tomb existed in this world. A Muslim is required to believe in what Allah revealed in the Qur’an and in what His last prophet Muhammad (PBUH) told in the Hadiths. If any one denies and rejects the teachings as enshrined in the Holy Qur’an and Hadiths, he/she will lose Iman (faith in Islam) and become a kafir according to Islam. The Qur’an teaches that Jesus Christ (PBUH) was one of the renowned prophets of Allah sent to the Children of Israel for their guidance. But some Jews made a collusion to kill him on the cross but Allah saved and lifted him up to the heaven. The Qur’an announces: “They (Jews) said (in boast)’’we killed Christ Jesus the son of Mary; but they killed him not, nor crucified him. But it appeared so unto them. Allah raised him up unto Himself; and Allah is the Exalted in power, wise’’ (4:157-158). In addition to Islam, God has given a information denying and negating the death of Jesus Christ in the Bible. God has assured him to be saved from those who conspired to kill him. The Bible states: ‘’When Pharisees and the chief priests sent some guards to arrest Jesus, then he (Jesus) said: ‘’ I shall go away to him who sent me. You will look for me, but you will not find me, because you cannot go where I will be “(John 7:32-34). Again Jesus said to them: ‘’I will go away, you will look for me but you will die in your sins .you cannot go where I am going’’ (John 8:21) .Thus the death of Jesus is denied in the Qur’an and the Bible alike. So if the death of Jesus is denied, the question concerning his body buried in a tomb cannot arise. Islam teaches that Jesus has been living in the heaven with the mercy of Allah since his ascension and will come down to the world before the Day of Judgement to correct and reform the people deviated from the true path of Allah in this world. Prophet Muhammad said: ‘’Swear by Allah Who holds my life, verily Jesus, the son of Mary will descend amongst you from the heaven as an Islamic ruler and justice; he will break the cross and killed the swine and settle the war and hence there will be abundance of wealth and there will be no one to accept it and the condition will be so fine that a prostration before Allah will be better than the world and what is in it’’ (Bukhari and Muslim). It is also assumed in Islam that Jesus would descend to the world not as prophet but as the adherent of prophet Muhammad to establish Islamic system of life as prescribed by Allah for the humanity in world.
