Prof. QAMRUZZAMAN QURESHI, founder of Deoband Unani Medical College, patron of a number of educational and other institutions, former member of CCIM (Central Council of Indian Medicines) who rendered valuable services in the field of education was honoured with Sir Syed Award by union minister for science and technology, Harsh Vardhan at a function held in Deoband. According to Dr. Muhammad Aslam, Principal of Unani Medical College, in addition to founding Unani Medical College in Deoband, Dr. Qamruzzaman also set up Deoband College of Higher education, Deoband College of Nursing and other educational institutions for academic courses of B.Ed, B.Sc., BTC. He also set up many institutions for rendering services in all parts of UP.
Ghalib Institute’s Awards Committee headed by its Chairman, Justice Aftab Alam, secretary Prof. Siddiqur Rahman Qidwai and two others selected the following personalities, litterateurs for its ‘Ghalib Awards 2016’. Prof. ALI AHMAD FATEMI, Head of Allahabad University’s Depart of Urdu, eminent Urdu critic and author of many books with Fakhruddin Ali Ahmad Ghalib Award for Urdu researches and criticism; Prof. ABUL QADIR JA’FERY, noted Persian scholar and former head of Allahabad University’s Deptt of Persian with Fakhruddin Ali Ahmad Ghalib Award for Persian criticism and research; Ms. ZAKIA MASHHADI, noted litterateur with Ghalib Award for Urdu Prose;BEKAL UTSAHI, prominent Urdu, Hindi poet with Ghalib Award for Urdu poetry; JAVED DANISH, Urdu dramatist and man of letters with Hum Sab Ghalib Award for Urdu drama; SANJIV SHROFF, Chairman of Rekhta Foundation in recognition of his important role in promotion of Urdu language and literature through information technology and also overall services to Urdu literature with Overall Literary Award. Ghalib Awards consisting of Certificate, Memento and a cheque of Rs. 75000 each will be given to all these six litterateurs at the International Ghalib functions to be held on 23 December 2016.
Prof. S. A. AZMI, Head of the Department of Psychological Diseases of AMU’s JN Medical College has been honoured with ‘Tara Naidu Award 2015’ by Indian Psychiatry Society (Central Zone) in its Annual Conference held at Indore on 4 November.
GUL NAWAZ PARVEEN, topper in M. A. (Urdu) of Delhi University’s Department of Urdu was honoured with three Gold Medals: Prof. KHWAJA AHMAD FAROOQI Gold Medal, Dr. RADHAKRISHNAN Gold Medal and ‘Arsh’ MALSIANI Gold Medal, and also MIRZA GHALIB Prize at a certificate distribution function held at Delhi University campus on 20 November. The medals and prize were given to her jointly by Delhi University’s Vice Chancellor Prof. YOGESH TYAGI and Prof. VED NANDA of USA’s Denver Unversity. After doing M. A., she is presently doing B.Ed from Jamia Millia Islamia University.
SYED AHMAD OSAMA, a student of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi who topped and secured 1st position in M. Tech was given ‘Dogra Gold Medal 2015-16’ by the chief guest, noted scientist and Bhart Ratn awardee, CNR Rao at the 47th convocation of IIT Delhi on 6 November.
Delhi Urdu Academy conducted a drama competition for different Urdu medium schools in Delhi on 16 November in which Anglo Arabic Sr. Sec. School for its drama Sasta Gosht was honoured with First Prize; Dr. Zakir Husain Memorial Sr. Sec. School Jafarabad for its drama Hawai Qilay was given Second Prize and Zeenat Mahal Sarvoday Kannya Viddyalay, Jafarabad for its drama Gaddha (pit) and Crescent School, Maujpur for its drama Gandhiji ki Bakri were jointly honoured with Third Prize as the marks secured by both these schools were equal.
SYED NASEER AHAMED, noted Telugu historian and writer of many books on  the  role of Muslims in the struggle for  freedom, was honoured with the PROUD VISTA SEWA AWARD. It was given to him for his continuously writing and bringing out the greatest sacrifices of unsung Muslim freedom fighters of the Indian subcontinent to the notice of one and all through his books since 1998. Till date, Mr Naseer wrote 13 books on this subject in Telugu which were reprinted many times. Mr Naseer has mailed pdf files of these books free of cost to thousands of interested persons.  Recently he was awarded with the UGADI PURASKARAM by the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh Mr Chandra Babu Naidu. The PROUD VISTA SEWA AWARD was presented to him on 19 November at Sri Potti Sree Ramulu Telugu University of Hyderabd in a grand function organised by the Hyderabad-based Progressive Rural Organisation for Unreached and Disabled (PROUD) in the presence of Padmsree Prof Kolakaluri Enach, Padmasree Narra Ravi Kumar, M Prasanthi IAS, Dr K Sivabhayarao IRS.
