Nasik explosion kills five

Nasik: A terrible blast in Tarwal Nagar locality of Nasik claimed five lives leaving seven injured. Saptashringi Apartment in the Panchavati extension suffered damage resulting in demolition of two storeys and damaging several cars in the parking area. The explosion was so powerful that it could be heard at a distance of two kilometres from the site.

The explosion occurred at 3.30 p.m. and in the beginning gas cylinder was considered to be the cause. However, when several top police officers rushed to the spot they felt that it could be caused by gelatine sticks. Traces of gun powder were also found at the location. The ATS has not ruled out other possibilities and is examining the incident from all possible angles. Rescue and relief operations have been under taken. Persons buried under the debris have been rescued and rushed to hospitals.
