India-Israel love irks Aiyar

New Delhi: With India and Israel deeply in love, the fate of the Palestinians goes down the drains. Mani Shankar Aiyar has slammed his party and the UPA for turning cold shoulder towards the plight of the Palestinians. The Rajya Sabha MP while speaking at a conference on A Just Peace for Palestine regretted the shift in India’s foreign policy. Sore over India’s dependence on Israel on supply of arms he wondered whether the supply was increasing day-by-day to keep its pace with civilian deaths in Gaza. His question seeking reply from the government on the issue was disallowed by the Ministry of External Affarirs under the pretext of state secret. He regretted that the policy initiated by Nehru and followed by Indira Gandhi as well as Rajiv Gandhi has been now abandoned.

Reacting to Aiyar’s views Prakash Karat of CPI(M) proposed to form a group of like-minded MPs. Aiyar appreciating Karat’s gesture said, “If the CPI and CPM consider me to be a non-card holding comrade, I am ready to make the initiative to form such a group.” Jamal Zahalka, an Arab member of the Israel parliament Knesset, warned about the junk India is receiving from Israel, “India should end its defense ties with Israel because it is buying equipment that failed during Israel’s aggression on Lebnon.” He concluded, “The war was actually the failure of Israeli weapons.” Not only Abhinav Bharat but Manmohan Bharat too is singing duet with Israel. What a love-triangle!
