Baghpat: Police and administration of Baghpat district of UP have formally registered a case against 9 persons including Jain muni (saint), Sadhvi Parachi and Swamy Dayanand. The case against the Jain muni is for his announcement to commit suicide and against the remaining others is for instigating him to commit suicide and also for interfering in official work, endangering peace and for spreading communal hatred. Jain muni’s campaign was aimed at getting the closure of all slaughter houses for which he had started a fast unto death on 26 April in Jain College’s ground in Barot, declaring that he would end his fast unto death only after getting all the slaughter houses of the country closed, including those of Baghpat and Meerut.

For undertaking this fast BJP leader Tiryal Dhama had brought him from Karnataka and among those who were supporting Swamy Dayanand in this cause were, Sadhvi Parachi, R.S.S. leader Govind Singh, BJP leader Ravi Shastri, Sachin Jain and some others against all of whom, a total of 9 persons, cases were registered. In addition to the above mentioned charges, they were also accused of instigating him (to undertake this fast), thereby playing politics and creating tension in the entire district. They were also insulting top officials of the civil administration and police. It was reported that after registration of cases against the followers and supporters of the Jain muni, they were feeling very afraid and the campaign of the Jain saint (muni) against slaughter houses almost came to a stand still.
