Turn not thy face from the society: SIO

Mumbai: SIO Mumbai Division organized a Campus Orientation Workshop on 12 June for students who are going to join campuses at the start of new academic year. Campus leader and former president of SIO of India Bishruddin Sharqi shared his practical experiences on campuses and college activism and also expressed his thoughts on students activism and social change.

A social activist and MPJ, Mumbai president Mr. Anees expressed his thoughts on the current social issues in society and how can students play a vital role in solving these issues.

Br. Nadeem Siddiqi (ZAC Member, SIO Maharashtra South) presented an analysis of contemporary student organizations working in Maharashtra. There were lots of exercises and group activities for campus work. Students were highly motivated and pledged to play an important role in campuses. Various assignments were also presented by the participants.

Br. Altaf (Campus Secretary, SIO Mumbai) introduced Students Voice (a campus wall magazine to be launched in July 2011).

Finally, the Workshop was concluded by motivational and thought-provoking discourse by Bishruddin Sharqi who urged the students to give maximum commitment toward society and come out from the narrow shackles of self centric and ultra-individualistic mentality.
