The 80-page large format directory provides information about medical colleges, Muslim teachers and students in all medical streams across Gujarat. The work has been meticulously done under the guidance of Farooq Abdul Gaffar Bawani and his dedicated and enthusiastic team of Muslim medical students which conducted the survey in all the medical colleges of Gujarat under the leadership of Dr. Irfan Gujarati who is himself a medical graduate holding an MBBS degree from Ahmedabad. Hard work of Muslim students yielded results and the new edition of the directory has just been published.

The previous five editions of this directory have helped in a big way in various ways. Aspiring doctors use it to get first hand information about medical colleges and its allied courses.  Students of different college find it helpful to collaborate through the information in the directory. Another interesting use of the directory is for matrimonial purposes. Parents of medical students take interest to find a similar soulmate for their children.

Similar directories may be brought out in other states by local organisations for the larger interests of the Muslim community. Copies of this directory are available for free. The Rajkot-based publisher of the directory Bawani hopes the initiative of Gujarati Muslims will inspire social workers of other states to come up with similar directories.  Bawani may be contacted at 098791-88179 / mohammed.galeriya#yahoo.co.in.
