Deoband student killed by police

Here is a heart-rending story which has failed to attract the attention of the media or government agencies. It shows how the police over the years have become a Muslim-hating force with subtle support of elements in the government.

It happened two months ago when four students of Darul Uloom Deoband were returning home for Ramadan holidays. They were Hafiz Obaidullah, Saleemullah, Maftooh Alam and Shaheed Ahmad. On 20 July, they boarded the Delhi-Guwahati Sampark Karanti train at Delhi on their way to their native town of Krimganj in Assam.

Hafiz Obaidullah (19 years) had an argument with a lady passenger over his reserved seat. The woman called the police which quickly arrived and, without ascertaining the facts, started mercilessly beating Obaidullah until he breathe his last on the spot. The remaining three students were dragged to the Mughal Sarai police station where they were detained amid continuous torture, filthy abuses and extraction of their blood despite their protests. These students were freed three days later at the intervention of Jamiat Ulama leaders and Darul Uloom Deoband rector Mufti Abul Qasim Banarsi. The police took the body of the murdered student to Patna where it was abandoned as the body of an unknown and unidentified person… This is how the life of a Muslim can be extinguished in free India with complete impunity.
