Fake post-mortem report racket busted

Moradabad: Health department is suspected of being involved in a racket. Fake post mortem reports have been found whereas the dead bodies were lying in the post-mortem house intact.

On instructions from DIG Ashok Kumar Singh police raided the post-mortem house and found two intact dead bodies for which post-mortem reports had been issued. The police have locked the p-m house and taken records in its custody. It is learnt that DIG had called SP (rural), C.O. high way Kotwali and Civil lines to his residence and formed two separate teams. While one team reached the p.m. house; the other went to district hospital from where it look the health officer and joined the p.m. house team. A raid was conducted and it collected record in its custody. During investigations the team found two corpses on which post-mortem had not been done.

According to the records the two bodies had been recovered from railway station which the GRP had sent for post-mortem. The record shows that Pankaj Giri had done p.m. on these bodies at 12.55 pm. The DIG expressed hope that this was a major disclosure after the Katni incident.

It seems that there is a gang operating behind the racket which deals in dead bodies. The police arrested Dr Pankaj Giri and two pharmacists Anand and Hari Singh and produced before CGM Court which sent them to jail.
