Hyderabad police shielding Saffron brigade

Hyderabad: Hyderabad police has been accused of communal bias, and for encouraging (and shielding) the Saffron brigade. Instead of promoting communal harmony, it is engaged in disrupting peace. Whenever it probes riot incidents its operation begins to target Muslims so as to seek revenge. If the accused is a Muslim, police officers brief media demonising him and describing him as a highly dangerous person with foreign links who is determined to attack non-Muslims.  But in case the accused happens to be a non-Muslim, he is described as an old or insane person. Hindu youth arrested during ret late night attacks on Muslims are shielded and were not alleged to belong to communal outfits. Their attacks have been described as “revenge-motivated reaction”. Remand diaries show such efforts. Several prominent activists, e.g., Unni Krishnan, Shakti Maheshwar, Survyavanshi Mahesh, P. Bhagwat and P. Kalyan are office-bearers of several religious orgcenanisations who conduct various religious programmes and try to strike deals with the Police for shielding Hindus. In order to justify their attacks on Muslims, cow-slaughter has been cited as the pretext for revenge/reaction or that their attack was to take revenge for a Hindu who was attacked while trying to obstruct the transportation of cows. Sadanand, the main accused, had been arrested in the past too and booked by the police.
