Global Accolades for Shiraz in medical studies Bangalore: Dr. Shiraz Ahamed Sharief, a post-graduate Student in Surgery at Georgia was the only Indian among over 2000 doctors to have been selected to attend the International Medical Students Congress (IMESCON) at Samsun, Turkey in May 2011. Dr. Shiraz has been invited to deliver oral case study and research presentations on: 1) A Case on long-term Complication of Hashimotos Thyroiditis into Papillary Carcinoma of Thyroid; 2) A Research on Component Separation Method and Triple Mesh Method in the Treatment of Complex Giant Incisional Hernias.

Dr. Shiraz has conducted this research work under the guidance of Prof. Giorgi Giorgobiani, who is the Board Member and former President (2009) of European Society of Surgery, Board Member of American Hernia Society, Author of world renowned Surgery book “Bailey & Love-Short Practice of Surgery, 25th Edition” and various other journals.

Dr. Shiraz is also involved in research on Bacteriophages and has published a paper titled “Role of Bacteriophages in Post Hernioplasty Mesh Infection” in Batumi International Medical Summit. Georgia in July 2011. He had participated in the Symposium on Emergency Surgery with Ben Gurion University of Negev, Israel during April 2011.

He had been selected to get trained under world famous Pancreatico-Hepatobiliary Surgeon, Prof. A. N. Kingsnorth. Prestigious Gold Scalpel Awardee, Prof. Kingsnorth is the author of more than 30 Surgery Text Books, published over 300 journals, was Examiner of Royal College of Surgeons, London, and Professor of Surgery at Peninsula Medical School, University of Plymouth. England.

Shiraz Ahamed Sharief was awarded the Certificate and Diploma for active participation in International Medical Student Congress. Dr. Shiraz is proceeding to his surgical training during November 2011-February 2012.

Hailing from Tumkur in Karnataka, he is the son of Alhaj K. Nayaz Ahamed. Dr. Shiraz did his MBBS from Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences with First Class. Recently his sister secured a top rank with distinction in first year MBBS from Sri Siddhartha University, Tumkur.
