Prof Jairajpuri honoured

Aligarh: Professor M. Shamim Jairajpuri, INSA Scientist in the Zoology Department, Aligarh Muslim University, has been felicitated with the Life-time Achievement Award in Helminthology in his 50th year of research (1961-2011) for his monumental research work on Nematodes at the 22nd All India Congress of Zoology organized by the Zoological Society of India, held at the University of Lucknow. The Vice Chancellor, Lucknow University, Professor M.K. Mishra, gave away the award to Professor Jairajpuri who had also delivered a lecture in the plenary session entitled “Nematodes and Human Welfare”.
The Punjab University, Chandigarh has also felicitated Professor Jairajpuri on his 50 years of research in Nematology and invited him to deliver its prestigious N.K. Gupta Memorial Lecture-2011 on “Nematode Biodiversity”. The award along with a cash prize was presented to Professor Jairajpuri by the Punjab University Vice Chancellor, Dr. R. C. Sobti.
