Togadia spews venom at Deoband

Deoband: National secretary of Vishwa Hindu Parishad Praveen Togadia, spewed venom against Darul Uloom and Tablighi Jamaat and urged the government to lock Darul Uloom which claimed was responsible for producing talibans and jehadis.

Addressing a dharma sabha under the auspices of Hanumant Shakti Jagaran Mahayagna at mela ground on 16 December, he expressed his dismay that Deoband, the land of devatas, has an institution which produces people with the pro-Babri mentality. He accused the institution of producing talibans and jehadis. He recalled that the British ruled India by force. How can Babar be regarded an Indian, he argued. He said that a mosque in Babar’s name should not be allowed to be built anywhere in the country.

He reminded that Darul Uloom was founded by Shah Walliullah Dehlavi for converting India into a Darul-Islam and this began producing the talibans. He regarded the tablighi jamat as a terror organisation. He reminded that the JeM activist who had hijacked a plane to Kabul was a Deoband product. He said if we had to fight in order to build the Ram Temple, thirty thousand mosques will become unsafe. He said that we are 85% in India and we do not need Muslims’ permission to build a Hindu Rashtra here. Whoever does not want to live in the Hindu rashtra, may go to Pakistan. He said, Ram Mandir is not a fight only for India or Hindus. Once the Ram Mandir is built, we will build mandirs in Lahore and Rawalpindi and nobody will be able to stop us.

Days later, Praveen Togadia said at Harda (MP) while addressing a Hindu sammelan on 22 December that foundation of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya was laid lakhs of years ago and hence now it is not the problem of Ayodhya but a war of ideology. In the presence of a large number of sadhus and sants, he said that we now intend to build Ram Mandir in Ayodhya in two years. He also targeted Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi and strongly criticised him.
