Shoukat dies of neglect in Vadodara prison

Vadodara: Shoukat, a heart patient undergoing life imprisonment in Vadodara central jail in Godhra-Sabarmati case died of a heart attack. No medical aid could be provided because, Sunday is a holiday. Members of the deceased's family accuse jail authorities of negligence. Shoukat alias Bhano Faroukbhai Patalia (35 years) was taking a siesta after lunch.
All of a sudden, he, felt pain in the chest and began sweating profously. Other inmates made a lot of hue and cry and he was rushed to the hospital. However, there was not a single doctor on duty because it was a Sunday. He was later on rushed to Sayaji Hospital where he was declared brought dead.
