Court indicts police in Wamiq Farooq killing

Srinagar: Wamiq Farooq, 13, was killed when a tear smoke shell was hurled at him from 30 feet distance. The boy was walking on the road returning home after playing carom. Policeman Abdul Khaliq is reported to be the erring culprit. Witnesses declared that the city was normal on that day. A white gypsy on January 31 (2010) arrived with 4-5 personnel. One of them hurled the shell without any provocation. The matter, after an enquiry by the local court, has been sent to the judicial magistrate, Srinagar for further proceedings. Three witnesses had reported on 16 November establishing the teenager’s innocence.
