Awards for Indian Muslims last fortnight

Noted Surgeon and Mayor of Muradabad Dr. S.T. HASAN was felicitated with an award for his contribution towards unity and fraternity among common people by International Peace Academy Brailey, UP on 2 Dec. 2010 at a function held at Rolary Club International.

Mr QAMAR ALI AKHUN minister of Public Distribution and Consumer Affairs, Jammu and Kakshmir, was honoured with ‘Bharat Gaurav Award’ by India International Friendship Society.

Ms QAMRUN NISA ZAIDI principal of Hamidia Girls Schools Khair Nagar, Meerut has been awarded ‘2009 President’s’ Education Award for her contribution towards spreading education among girls.

Maulana MUHAMMAD TAQIUDDIN NADVI AZMI has been selected  for Shah Waliullah Award for the year 2010. His name was decided by the Institute of Objective Studies on 16 Dec. 2010. Maulana Taqiuddin is an expert on hadith and had done his doctorate on Imam Behiqui’s, Al-Zikrul Kabir from Al-Azhar University Cairo. He will be felicitated at a function in February 2011.

Tatparya Pratibha Parimarjan Sansthan, Haryana Unit awarded Deep Desh Award to two Urdu journalists for excellent reporting. Social worker Chaudhary Babu Khan Ansari presented the award to IFTIKHAR QURAISHI of Rashtriya Sahara and MAULVI BILAL AHMAD of Hind Samachar. The award includes a shawl, a certificate and a memento besides a cash prize. Two other persons Mr. SALIM AKHTAR ANSARI and Mr. ANSAR AHMAD ANSARI were given Adab Nawaz Awards. The ceremony was held on 2 December at Madrasa Badrul Islam conference hall.

HAKEEM SHOEB AKHTAR SIDDIQUEE, district coordinator of Minority Education Council was adjudged the best Unani Physician of 2010 by Central Council for Research in Unani Medicine at Badaun UP on 30 December, 2010. He is the author of ‘Aina-e-Tibb’ and working currently on several other books on Unani Medicine.

Dr. BASHIR VIRI was honoured with Rashtriya Gaurav Award in acknowledgement of his selfless philanthropic services towards humanity in the field of Tibb on 14 December 2010 at a function at Delhi. Dr. Bashir of Bijbihara Anantnag J&K is the able son of social worker and former minister Abdul Ghani Viri.

Dr. MUHAMMAD SHAMIM, principal investigator of the department of Zoology, Aligarh Muslim University was conferred the distinguished Junior Scientist Award 2010 by the National Environmental Science Academy, New Delhi. The award is in recognition of his valuable contribution in the field of Entomology. Dr. Shamim is a life-member of the National Environmental Science Academy, the Enological Society of India and the Bio-systematical and Biologist Conference.

Dr. ALIA AMAN, vice president of Unani Tibbi Congress and ex-deputy advisor (Unani) was honoured with Hakeem Ashraf Global Award on 12 December 2010 at Hyderabad for her valuable services.

Mr. RAMESH CHANDAR POHAL PANIPATI was honoured with ‘Hali Award’ for the year of 2009-10 by Haryana Urdu Academy for his book ‘Dastane Hali’. The award was given away by the H’ble governor Jagannath Paharia at Haryana Raj Bhawan on 28 December 2010.

ANJUM USMANI, president of Apna Vichar Manch was chosen for Golden Education Award in acknowledgment of his  social and educational services. This information was given by the secretary of Golden Educational Social and Welfare Society Saharanpur, on 28 December 2010.

ATHAR SHAMSI of UP is among the five persons selected for the National RTI Citizen for the year 2010. At the top of the list of the 5 persons chosen for this Award is Pune-based Mrs Vinita Kamte, widow of IPS officer, late Ashok Kamte who was killed during the terrorist attack in Mumbai on 26/11/08. Justice J.S. Verma and J.M. Lyngdoh were among the 5-member jury which selected these names out of a huge list of 726 names suggested for this year’s National RTI Citizen Awards. Among the other three awardees, two are from Haryana and one from Goa.

Professor SYED MANAZIR ALI, head of the department of paediatrics, JN Medical College Aligarh Muslim University, was selected as the Best Head Paediatrician of a district by the Indian Academy of Paediatrics, UP chapter, on 20 December, 2010 and honoured with an award. The award is in acknowledgement of his valuable contribution towards neo natal branch of paediatrics. Prof Ali is the national trainer for comprehensive child survival programme and safety for new borns.
