No need of an official confirmation for a Muslim’s will

Mumbai: A single-judge bench of Mumbai High Court said here recently, while disagreeing to some extent with an earlier ruling, that no official confirmation is needed for a will made by a Muslim if Indian Law of Will or Testament is applicable to him. Generally, no will made or written by a person is implemented if it is not officially certified by a competent and authorised court. The ruling further said that under the existing Islamic Law no person can execute a will for one-third of his/her property.
