ZFI apprises Abdul Kalam of govt apathy on Sachar report

New Delhi: In a press release, Zakat Foundation of India, appraised that a delegation under its chairman Syed Zafar Mahmood met the former President of India, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, and apprised him about the backwardness of Muslims pointed out by the Sachar committee. The distinguished visionary expressed his great concern on the predicaments of the community. Dr. Zafar Mahmood informed him about the apathy of the government towards the implementation of the report. Having obtained status report about its implementation through RTI, the Foundation tried to find out whether some alternate course of action was under the considerations of government. However, this too drew a blank. The delegation further apprised him the fact that even the oft published 15-point programme of the Prime Minister has been dumped and made ineffective by an indifferent government machinery and the Muslims have been deprived of the benefits of welfare schemes. Dr. Kalam expressed his sincere concern and promised that he would try his best to ensure what could be done.
