Islam is the best system for eradicating poverty: V.S. Vyas

Jaipur: Renowned economist and member of financial advisory group to the Prime Minister, V.S. Vyas, urged that economic policy should be planned by integrating it with ethics and moral values. Equal development of all the communities should be ensured by recognising values propounded by all the religions. Speaking on “Moral Values in Planning and Development” at the Yojana Bhavan he pointed out that remedies to several economic issues can be found in Islamic system of economy. Among all the religions Islam provides the best model of eradicating poverty. By mentioning the concept of Zakat and Sadaqat he said that the problems of poor can be addressed through them. These practices should be further encouraged. His comments shall be hailed by the advocates of Islamic banking which is being demanded by many scholars.
