Kolkata Student Union Elections: SFI attacks Islamic org cadre

21 February 2011 (Kolkata): Hooligans belonging to the Students' Federation of India (SFI) camp exhibited their muscle power in the Students’ Union Election today at The Derozio Memorial College, Rajarhat.

Students' Islamic Organisation of India (SIO) was the only party to file nomination papers in Derozio College besides SFI . The fear of losing the election and facing a defeat forced SFI to go on rampage and start brutal attack on the SIO cadres and media persons present in the campus.  Thirteen members of SIO, students of Derozio College were beaten up by SFI goondas while the Police was a mere spectator.

SIO, West Bengal condemns this use of force to suppress democratic process of election and appeals to the administration to step in and uphold democracy in campus.
