Fake encounter killing in Uttar Pradesh

The Uttar Pradesh police has claimed to have killed Kamlesh Coudhary, area commander of CPI Maoist, in an encounter in Chopen Locality in Sonbhadra on 9 November. But indepth investigation by the People's Union for Civil Liberties revealed that police had picked Kamlesh from his home town Rohtas in Bihar on 8 November of which Superintendent of Police Vikas Waibhav is also aware of. Kamlesh was thereafter handed over to Uttar Pradesh Police for further questioning. But a day after ie on 9 November, police came out with a different story that Kamlesh was killed in an encounter in Chopen forest. PUCL, has also come to know that along with Kamlesh, four other boys were picked up. Neither the UP police nor the Bihar police have presented them in Court so far. Out of these four boys, the PUCL has also got the name of the two as: 1 Motilal Kharwar, (village- Bharatpura, post -Chinari, district- Rohtas). 2 Kameswar Yadav (Village-Bhawnaspur, post Gadwa, Jharkhand). The other two boys are also from Rohtas district but their names are not known.

The organisation is seriously concerned about the fate of missing boys as they think that police might also have killed them in fake encounter. The PUCL in a letter has demanded from the state government and National Human Rights Commission an impartial probe in the whole incident. (Mohammad Naushad Khan)
