Mass marriage programmes in Gujarat

Anand/Bharuch(Gujarat): Returning to the frugality and simplicity of Islam, people have begun responding warm heartedly towards mass marriage programmes. Two such programmes were recently organised at Anand and Bharuch.

The programme at Anand was organised by Mohadis-e-Azam Mission at Petlad in the Anand district of Gujarat. Hazrat Syed Muhammad Qasim Ashraf Baba Saheb while blessing the newly wedded couples urged them to follow Islam in its entirety and spread love and peace on one and all and thus contribute to the welfare of the community as well as of the nation. The programme was attended by several prominent persons - Vilas Rao Deshmukh former CM Maharashtra and present union minister; Bharat Singh Solanki MP and union minister, Niranjan Bhai Patel, MLA, Iqbal Patel MLA, Rajendra Singh Parmar, Vice Chairman AMUL and many others. They appreciated the gesture which was devoid of extravagance and rituals. 104 couples were married on the occasion.

Majlis-e-Al Falah, UK (Trust) sponsored third mass marriage programme at Bharuch in which 50 poor and orphan girls were married. In order to eradicate the menace of dowry, this programme was organised at the Welfare Hospital ground. Each couple was given a gift of domestic utility articles worth Rs 15000.
