Bhopal’s journalism university to train Urdu journalists

Bhopal: Urdu journalists also will now be imparted training in journalism in Bhopal’s Makhan Lal Chaturvedi University for Journalism. An announcement to this effect was made by this University’s Vice-Chancellor Brij Kishore Kathiala at the end of a seminar on ‘Urdu Journalism: Challenges and Prospects’ held in this University on 24 January. He said that training to Urdu journalists will also be provided in those cities of the University Campus where Urdu newspapers in large number are published, adding that Madhya Pradesh Madrasa Board also had approached this University for imparting training to its students in journalism after which necessary action is being taken in this direction. He said that Certificate course of one year, Diploma course of two years and Degree course of three years will be started for these students. He further said that in the University Urdu will be included as an optional subject alongwith other courses at Master’s Degree level. It may be stated that Bhopal’s Makhan Lal Chaturvedi University is the only journalism university in the country. Journalist Ma’soom Muradabadi, a member of Delhi Urdu Academy’s Governing Council who had come here to participate in this seminar on journalism had told the Vice-Chancellor that Urdu Academy, Delhi will soon start such a course for Urdu journalists and that NCPUL is already imparting training to working Urdu journalists.
