Gulzar Delhvi’s anthology released

New Delhi: Kulliyat-e Gulzar, an anthology of Delhi’s and Urdu’s famous poet Pundit Anand Mohan Zutshi ‘Gulzar’ Dehlvi’s poems was released by Hamid Ansari, Vice-President of India at a function held at India Islamic Cultural Centre on 17 January. Speaking on this occasion Hamid Ansari said that the entire history of Delhi is associated with Gulzar Delhvi and he is associated with the entire history of Delhi. He said that if one goes through the first volume of this book, he will find that right from the times of Jawaharlal Nehru, Maulana Azad and Independence till date there will be hardly any person or important event on which Gulzar might not have expressed his views. He said that this is the first volume of his Kulliyat and we are keenly waiting for its second volume. Syed Shahid Mehdi former Vice-Chancellor of Jamia Millia Islamia and presently Chairman of ICCR while speaking on this occasion said that he is a beautiful model not only of Delhi’s culture but of Kashmiri culture also. He said that Gulzar is a living archive who preserves the treasure of memories. He said that he is simultaneously a Pundit as well as Nizami who always raised his voice against communalism and oppression. IICC’s Chairman Sirajuddin Qureshi said that he is a strong pillar of Ganga-Jamuni civilization, seeing that on one side he is associated with Shri Ram Lila Committee and on the other side he is an active member of Hazrat Nizamuddin Urs Committee. President of Muhammad Yunus Memorial Society Khwaja Khalilullah presented him a cheque of Rs 5001 and shawl in recognition of his valuable services to Urdu literature.
