Darul Uloom pleads for Muslim reservation

New Delhi: Demanding reservation for Muslims in government jobs and other spheres, Maulana Ghulam Muhammad Vastanvi, the new rector of Darul Uloom Deoband, appreciated the Sachar Committee recommendations. Recalling that Muslims have very poor representation in government jobs and that they have since long, been campaigning for reservation, he urged the government to implement the schemes suggested by the Sachar Committee. He said that the 15-point-programme of the prime minister is extremely good for development. Several steps have been taken by the Union government towards minority welfare though several state governments have been creating obstacles towards their implementation.
