Five years RI to eight persons for slaughtering cows

Kairana: A local court of Kairana sentenced eight persons to 5 years rigorous imprisonment as well as fine of Rs Five thousand each for slaughtering cows. According to the news provided by an informer to police, Jhanjhana police team led by the incharge of Jhanjhana police station had arrested Messrs Hashim, Rashid, Meherbaan, Shahid, Haneef and some others in November 2004 alongwith about 60 quintals of beef and the same quantity of beef in tractor, 4 heads of cows, hides axes etc from Khwajpura forests. However, two persons among them Moosa and Mehenda had succeeded in escaping from there. They were however arrested soon after that. One accused, Shabbir died subsequently. After protracted hearing of the case Justice Manoj Kumar Shukla pronounced his verdict on 7 January 2011, sentencing all of them to 5 years imprisonment alongwith fine.
