SC notice in Sohrabuddin fake encounter case

Ahmedabad: The SC issued a strong notice to the Gujarat government on the CBI’s appeal to transfer the Sohrabuddin fake encounter case outside the state. A bench comprising Justice Aftab Alam and R.M. Lodha issued notices to the Gujarat government alongwith 19 others which includes several police officers involved in the encounter. Senior Counsel for the CBI, K.T. Tulsi had filed this appeal. The CBI had sought transfer on the ground that not only highly placed police officers but even then state home minister Amit Shah was also a party to the crime. These people are highly powerful and because of them a free and impartial trial could not be conducted inside Gujarat. The CBI had submitted in its petition the fact that family members of several accused persons are either pleaders or judges in various lower courts. During hearings their supporters throng the court-room. In the past several witnesses had been threatened.
