Demand to free innocent Muslims after Swamy’s confession

New Delhi: General secretary of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), MP and leader of the party in Rajya Sabha, Tariq Anwar, in a letter to Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram has stated that after the Makka Masjid bomb blast accused and RSS leader, Swamy Aseemanand’s confession about his complicity in Malegaon bomb blast and other terrorist activities, it is government’s responsibility to immediately release all the innocent Muslim youths who were falsely arrested on the pretext of these bomb blasts. He also demanded that strongest action should be taken against those police officers who framed false and concocted cases against innocent Muslim youths and compelled them to undergo torture in jails, thereby taking away precious part of their lives which they could have utilised for the progress and development of the country. He said in quite plain and clear terms that ugly faces of enemies of the nation whom Hemant Karkare had identified and exposed before the people of the country are coming to the fore day by day and now the whole world has come to know who really are faithful and loyal to the motherland. He requested the home minister to direct without delay the investigating agencies to conduct impartial investigations and not only dismiss the officers who adopt partiality or delaying tactics in making enquiries but also to ensure that they are brought to justice.

Tariq Anwar asked the home minister to give strict instructions to investigating agencies and the police department to register cases carefully and honestly so that in future no innocent person could be labelled “guilty”. At the same time, he demanded that in view of the arrests of Sadhvi Pragya Singh, Col. Purohit, Swamy Aseemanand and others of this tribe, RSS and its affiliated organisations should be banned immediately. Anwar criticised those leaders who, instead of supporting a ban on RSS, are talking of going in for an ideological war against it. He cautioned that if the government does not seriously take notice of Aseemanand’s confession before the judge of CBI court under section 164 of IPC about his complicity in various bomb blasts, it can be an alarm bell of some great danger for the country. He further said that the sensational disclosure about the plan of bombing Aligarh Muslim University by Aseemanand’s also needs to be considered seriously. He said that on one side Congress spokesman Shakeel Ahmad talks of taking action against saffron terrorism but on the other side lack of seriousness by Congress-led government at the centre is visible. He said that if the government adopts the policy of dilly-dallying in freeing the innocent Muslim youths, bringing the real culprits to justice and in imposing a ban on RSS and its affiliate organisations, NCP will start an organised campaign, within the limits of law and Constitution, and will not rest till its above mentioned demands are met.
